Individuals in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) community experience a unique and often times emotionally painful set of stressors. This can include coming out (an ongoing process), issues of stigma, subtle or blatant forms of discrimination or even violence, and many times rejection from those who are closest. Add these on top of every day stressors or past traumas and life can feel challenging at times.
It is important to have a therapist who can understand your experiences as an LGBTQ person, and also know that your reason for seeking help may or may not be directly related to or caused by these experiences.
I provide LGBTQ affirming psychotherapy in Minneapolis and am a member of the Minnesota LGBT Therapists Network. Please contact me with questions or to schedule an initial consultation. I look forward to being of help.
